A center of gravity
Recent years have seen a comprehensive development of culture and tourism here. Among other things, the region's largest cultural centre has been built here, housing the Coastal Express Museum. Adjacent to this, one finds the historical coastal express M/S Finnmarken, which has been set ashore as a public attraction. Stokmarknes was granted city status Jan. 1st, 2000.
