Ever
since the Stone Age, humans have sought places to live in areas of
plentiful natural resources. The area round Førpollen is such an
area.

In
fact, the density of prehistoric traces is so great that it causes
occasional conflicts between the local inhabitants, who want
economic progress, and the archaeologists, who want to preserve
cultural history.
We
know much about the ancient settlements around Førepollen. Layer by
layer, archaeologists have travelled through exciting epochs and
have found traces of people who once lived here.
Decorated ceramic fragments from a Stone Age family’s eating bowl
have been uncovered. Fragments from ploughs and cricibles show that
there were innovations and development in the Iron Age.
